Description

Our hedgehog home is made from recycled wood.

Hedgehog numbers in the United Kingdom are at a decline with numbers halving since the mid-nineties. With increased development, like most of nature, the hedgehog’s habitat has become under increased pressure.

By providing suitable habitats in our gardens like our wooden handmade hedgehog home, hopefully, we could help the hedgehog and other species by easing some of this pressure. The hedgehog home is built to provide shelter, offer some peace and quiet and by providing a short tunnel into the home, prevention of cats and dogs gaining access.

Place the home in a quite spot in the garden, preferably against a hedge or fence and point the tunnel entrance away from the prevailing cold winter winds to avoid a draft in the home.

Place twigs and small logs against the home and cover them with leaves, this will provide insulation through the winter months. Line the internals of the home with hay or leafy litter for the hedgehog to nest in.

The home is handcrafted using reclaimed wood which is carefully screwed together.

The tunnel is made separately allowing it to slide out of the main entrance for easy access to the home for cleaning when required.

Approximate Dimensions are: H 20cm x W 35cm x D 30cm

All our products are made from natural timber materials. To ensure a longer life please continue to treat them annually with a timber preservative.
